Nissan Motor Co. and Honda Motor Co. reported slight sales declines in China for last month. |
Nissan deliveries dipped 1.8 percent year on year to 76,745 while Honda sales slid 1.5 percent to 75,907.
It is the second straight month Nissaní»s sales declined in China. For the first two months, Nissaní»s deliveries edged down 1.2 percent to 210,679.
Honda deliveries rose 4.5 percent to 212,390 for the two months combined, thanks to an 8.2 percent sales increase in January.
Combined figures for the first two months of the year are viewed as a more reliable market yardstick because of the timing of the Lunar New Year, which varies between January and February each year.
Another major Japanese automaker, Toyota Motor Corp., hasní»t revealed its China sales for February.
In 2018, new-vehicle deliveries in China contracted for the first time in nearly three decades, dropping 4.1 percent from a year earlier to 23.7 million.
Despite the market decline, Nissan deliveries gained 2.8 percent to 1.56 million vehicles, Toyota sales advanced 14 percent to 1.47 million and Honda deliveries were flat at 1.43 million last year.
