Dealership stockpiles rise to 2-month supply in April
Automotive News China | 2019/5/14

Average inventory levels at dealerships across China rose to a 60-day supply in April, up from a 54-day supply the previous month, as new-vehicle sales continued to wane.

Stores distributing domestic Chinese brands saw their stockpiles reach 77 days in April, a jump from 63 days in March, according to the China Automobile Dealers Association.

Dealerships stocking luxury brands and imported foreign brands posted a backlog of 53 days, up from 45 days in a month earlier.

Only dealerships marketing domestically produced foreign mass-market brands reported a marginal easing in inventories, with supplies edging down to 52 days from 53 days the previous month.

In April, stockpiles at stores under two Chinese brands -- Changan and Chery -- reached a 102-day supply.

Dealerships under SAIC Motor Corp.s Roewe brand had the third-highest backlog -- a 96-day supply.

They were followed by General Motors Buick and Chevrolet marques, whose dealerships carried a 72-day supply, on average.
