BMW, Audi gain; Mercedes Feb. sales dip

Audi and BMW Group posted sales gains last month, when overall industry volume dipped amid weaker demand during the Chinese New Year holiday, but Mercedes-Benz volume dipped. 

In February, Audi sales rose 1.8 percent to 40,084 on demand for the elongated A4 sedan. A4L deliveries jumped 17 percent to 10,888 during the month, according to Audi. 

Combined sales of the BMW and Mini brands edged up 0.6 percent to 44,582 last month, according to BMW AG. The company didní»t release separate sales for the two brands or individual models. 

Mercedes-Benz deliveries dropped 5.4 percent to 40,733. 

Despite the weaker February results, Mercedes-Benz outsold BMW and Audi in China in the first two months of the year.

Mercedes-Benzí» January-February sales slid 0.9 percent to 112,430. During the same period, BMW AG delivered 107,717 vehicles under the BMW and Mini marques, advancing 8.8 percent. Audi sales rose 3.8 percent to 104,084 during the same two-month period.
