Honda deploys first EV model to car-sharing fleet
Automotive News China | 2019/3/1

Honda Motor Co. delivered its first locally built electric vehicle to the car-sharing fleet operated by its joint venture with Chinese software developer Neusoft Corp.

Honda said the Everus VE-1 compact crossover, produced at Guangqi Honda, has a range of 340 kilometers (211 miles) on one charge.

The Japanese automaker introduced the Everus brand in 2009 under Guangqi Honda, Hondas joint venture with Guangzhou Automobile Group Co.

In 2017, Honda acquired a 10 percent stake in Reachda New Energy Vehicle Technology Co., a car-sharing service operator, for 60 million yuan ($9 million).

Beijing-based Reachda, established by Neusoft in 2016, operates a fleet of 1,100 EVs in seven Chinese cities including Beijing and the south China city of Guangzhou.

In addition to the Everus VE-1, other EVs in the car-sharing fleet are produced by domestic Chinese automakers including Changan Automobile Co. and BAIC Motor Co.

BMW, Audi and PSA Peugeot Citroen have also delivered vehicles to car-sharing providers in China.

Volkswagen Group in December formed a joint venture in Shanghai with Chinese ride-hailing giant Didi Chuxing to develop vehicles and related technologies for ride-hailing fleets.
