BMW sustains double-digit sales growth; deliveries lag Mercedes, Audi
Automotive News China | 2019/2/19

BMW Group delivered 63,135 BMW and Mini vehicles in China in January, a jump of 16 percent from a year earlier. Still, BMWs China sales trailed those of Mercedes-Benz and Audi last month.

It was the sixth straight month the German luxury carmaker posted double-digit sales growth in China.

The January increase was led by the BMW X3 crossover that went on sale in July and the BMW 5-series sedan, BMW Group said. The two models are produced in China.

BMW Group didnt provide separate January China sales totals for the BMW and Mini brands.

Although BMW Groups growth rate outpaced those of Mercedes and Audi, the luxury rivals led in China vehicle sales for the month. Mercedes deliveries rose 4.8 percent in January from a year earlier to 71,697 while Audi sales gained 5.1 percent to 64,000.
