Used-vehicle deliveries rise 11% in 2018 on strength of crossovers, SUVs
Automotive News China | 2019/2/15

Used-vehicle sales in China increased at a double-digit pace for the third straight year in 2018, advancing 11 percent year on year to more than 13.8 million.

The growth was driven by used crossovers and SUVs, according to the China Automobile Dealers Association.

Last year, some 1,335,600 used crossovers and SUVs were delivered across the country, surging 31 percent from 2017.

Used sedan sales jumped 12 percent to roughly 8,222,000 while used multipurpose vehicle deliveries rose 8.1 percent to approach 782,000.

Used commercial vehicle sales also remained robust in 2018.

Deliveries of used buses and vans increased 10 percent to nearly 1,468,000 while sales of used trucks and pickups gained 9.5 percent to approach 1,223,000.

The rest of the used vehicles sold in the year were microvans and low-speed small trucks.

The transaction value of used vehicles in 2018 in China exceeded 860.4 billion yuan ($127.3 billion), rising 6.3 percent from 2017, according to the association.
