GM to launch 20-plus new and updated models this year
Automotive News China | 2019/2/12

General Motors will roll out more than 20 new and face-lifted vehicles in China this year to shore up sales growth.

Half of the vehicles will be new nameplates, the Detroit automaker said, without releasing more specifics about the models.

Some of the new models will be electrified vehicles, which will be launched to ¡°tap emerging opportunities in new energy vehicles¡± in China, according to GM.

In April 2018, GM said Buick would add plug-in hybrid and EV versions of the Velite 6 in China. But it didn¡¯t provide a timeframe for the introduction of the vehicles.

GM aims to have 10 electrified vehicles in China by 2020. That¡¯s up from four now: the Cadillac CT6 plug-in hybrid, the Buick Velite 5 extended-range electric vehicle, and two Wuling-badged, two-seat micro electric sedans.

In 2018, GM¡¯s China deliveries dropped 9.9 percent to 3.64 million because of weaker economy.
