Geely shores up sales with new products
Automotive News China | 2019/2/12

Geely Automobile Holdings eked out a 2 percent sales increase in January behind demand for two Geely models and three vehicles launched under the new premium marque Lynk & CO.

Geely delivered 158,393 vehicles under the Geely and Lynk & CO brands last month, the Hong Kong-listed company said.

Two new models -- the Binrui company sedan and the Binyue compact crossover -- were launched under the Geely brand in the second half last year.

In January, the Binrui and Binyue generated respective sales of 12,480 and 14,627.

Sales of the three Lynk & CO-badged models -- the 01 and 02 compact crossovers and 03 compact sedan -- totaled 12,588 last month.

Despite a December slump, Geely¡¯s annual deliveries increased 20 percent to top 1.5 million in 2018, consolidating its position as the largest domestic Chinese carmaker.

Geely expects sales to be flat in 2019, reflecting a softening of China¡¯s light-vehicle market, which contracted for the first time since 1990.

Geely is headquartered in the east China city of Hangzhou. Its parent Zhejiang Geely Holding Group Co. also owns Volvo Car Corp.
