Audi maintains sales growth behind long-wheelbase A4 volume
Automotive News China | 2019/2/5

Audi began 2019 well in China, with deliveries rising 5.3 percent year on year to 63,888 vehicles in January, according to a local media report.

The growth was led by the locally produced elongated A4 compact sedan, reported  Cheshi,   a Beijing car website, citing information it obtained from FAW-Volkswagen.

FAW-VW, a joint venture between China FAW Group Corp. and Volkswagen Group, produces and markets vehicles for Audi and VW brands.

Last month, A4L sales surged 21.3 percent from a year earlier to 16,668.

Two other Audi models with sales topping 10,000 in January were the elongated A6 full-size sedan and Q5 compact crossover: 12,341 A6Ls and 10,858 Q5L were delivered in the month.

Like the A4L, the A6L and Q5L are also produced at Volkswagen Groups joint venture with China FAW Group Corp.

China sales of two other major German luxury brands in January are not available.

In 2018, Audi defended its position as the largest luxury car brand in China, with deliveries advancing 11 percent from a year earlier to exceed 663,000.
