Ford slump continues despite redesigned products
Automotive News China | 2018/12/18

Ford Motor Co.í»s sales decline in China is accelerating, with November volume plunging 55 percent to 52,434, despite the arrival of the redesigned Focus and Escort sedans the previous month.

Deliveries at Fordí»s two joint ventures -- Changan Ford Automobile Co. and Jiangling Motors Corp. -- tumbled 58 percent to 47,218 last month.

Changan Ford produces and markets Ford-badged passenger vehicles, while Jiangling Motors builds and distributes trucks for both Ford and JMC brands.

Ford didní»t reveal separate sales figures for the two partnerships.

By contrast, November deliveries at Lincoln, which sells imported vehicles in China, rose 3 percent to 5,216.

Through November, Fordí»s China sales have slumped 34 percent to 695,028. During the period, combined deliveries at Changan Ford and Jiangling Motors plunged 36 percent to 645,442, but Lincoln sales gained 3 percent to 49,586.

Last week, the U.S. automaker said its sales chief for the Greater China region is resigning. Henry Li, who joined the company in May, will leave the company for health and family reasons at the end of December, Ford said.

Ford has yet to name a successor for Li.
