Gestamp opens plant in Tianjin to supply Hyundai, Daimler

Spanish supplier Gestamp has opened a plant in the north China city of Tianjin to supply body-in-white and chassis components to Hyundai Motor Co. and Daimler.

The 50 million euro (395 million yuan) factory is jointly owned by Gestamp and Beijing Hainachuan Automotive Parts Co., an auto parts subsidiary of BAIC Motor Corp. 

The plant has two hot stamping lines and nine laser cells. It employs more than 250 people. 

The Tianjin factory is Gestampí»s 11th in China. The supplier also has two r&d centers in the country.  

Gestamp, headquartered in Madrid, operates 108 plants in 22 countries. In 2017, its global revenue topping 8.2 billion euros, of which 9 percent was generated in China.
