Toyota Boshoku expands automotive filter parts capacity in Tianjin
Automotive News China | 2018/11/2

Toyota Boshoku Corp., a Toyota Group company, moved its automotive filter components plant in the northern China city of Tianjin to a site that significantly increases the factory¡¯s production capacity.

The $11.8 million (81.9 million yuan) plant launched production last week. It covers a ground area of 32,500 square meters (349,700 square feet), which is 1.5 times larger than the previous plant, Toyota Boshoku said.

The Tianjin plant is equipped with resin molding machinery to build not only components but also complete products for air cleaners and cabin filters.

Toyota Boshoku started production in China in 1995 and operates 18 factories across the country that produce automotive seats, door trims, headliners and filters.

Toyota Boshoku¡¯s main client in China is Toyota Motor Co., which has maintained strong sales despite the recent dip in the overall Chinese market.

In September, the Japanese automaker delivered 140,000 vehicles under the Toyota and Lexus brands in China, an increase of 18 percent year on year.

The September results boosted Toyota¡¯s overall sales in the market this year to 1.08 million, a gain of 13 percent from the same period last year.
