Automotive News China | 2018/9/25

Belgian supplier Wabco Holdings Inc. signed an agreement to form a joint venture with China FAW Group Corp.s truck unit to build vehicle control parts for commercial vehicles in China.

The joint venture between Wabco and FAW Jiefeng Automotive Co., will start producing Wabcos single-piston air disc brakes for FAW Jiefang and other truckmakers in China in 2019.

Under another project, the partnership will develop advanced braking systems for autonomous driving, active safety and fleet management services to be used by commercial vehicle manufacturers and fleets in China, Wabco said.

Additional details about the joint venture were not disclosed.

FAW Jiefang, based in the northeast China city of Changchuan, is the largest heavy-duty truck manufacturer in China.

Wabco, based in Brussels, recorded global sales of $3.3 billion (22.6 billion yuan) in 2017. It has roughly 15,000 employees in 40 countries.
