BMW to debut next-gen X3 compact crossover
Automotive News China | 2018/4/13

BMW Group will display the next-generation BMW X3 compact crossover this month at the Beijing auto show.

The X3 will be built at BMW Brilliance Automotive Co.s Dadong plant in the northeast China city of Shenyang, BMW said.

BMW Brilliance, headquartered in Shenyang, is a 50-50 joint venture between BMW and state-owned Brilliance China Automotive Holdings

Two other BMW production models will make their Asian debuts at the show: the X2 and X4 compact crossovers. BMW Group has yet to reveal a time frame for production of the two models in China.

BMW also will display three concept vehicles at the show: the X7 iPerformance, 8 series and i Vision Dynamics.

BMW Group assembles 1-, 2-, 3- and 5-series sedans as well as the X1 subcompact crossover at BMW Brilliance.

This year, BMW Group signed a letter of intent with private Chinese automaker Great Wall Motor Co. to explore building Mini electric vehicles in China.

For the first two months of this year, sales of BMW and Mini vehicles in China rose 7.5 percent year on year to 89,992. BMW Group did not disclose separate totals for the brands.
