Buick to introduce 2 green vehicles under Velite subbrand
Automotive News China | 2018/4/3

SHANGHAI -- Buick will launch a plug-in hybrid and an electric vehicle in China under its Velite subbrand to expand its local lineup of alternative-energy vehicles.

The two models are the production versions of the Velite concept car unveiled in November 2016 in China, General Motors said without specifying when the vehicles will arrive.

The Velite 6 plug-in hybrid will feature a high-performance hybrid electric vehicle propulsion system while the Velite 6 EV will adopt a new battery electric vehicle propulsion system, GM said.

Further details about the two Velite models have yet to be disclosed.

Buick¡¯s products in China include the Velite 5 extended-range EV and conventional hybrid versions of the Regal and LaCrosse.

China is Buick¡¯s largest market. In 2017, Buick¡¯s China sales exceeded 1.18 million, virtually unchanged from a year earlier. The total accounted for 84 percent of the brand¡¯s global sales last year.
