Webasto opens sunroof plant in Guangzhou
Automotive News China | 2018/4/3

German supplier Webasto opened a plant in the south China city of Guangzhou to expand sunroof output for carmakers in the region.

The factory, covering 65,000 square meters (700,000 square feet), can produce 1.6 million sunroofs annually after reaching full capacity.

It will gradually replace a nearby smaller old sunroof plant in Guangzhou.

The factory will mainly build sunroofs for global carmakers with assembly plants in south China, including Nissan Motor Co., Honda Motor Co., Fiat Chrysler Automobiles, the Volkswagen Group and PSA Peugeot Citroen.

Prior to the opening of the new plant in Guangzhou, Webasto operated 11 sunroof production sites in China.

In 2017, its China sales topped 1 billion euros (7.7 billion yuan), accounting for roughly one third of its global revenue, the German supplier said.
