Geely sees sales jumping again in 2018 after surge last year
Automotive News China | 2018/1/9

Geely Automobile Holdings is targeting annual sales of 1.58 million in 2018, a jump of 27 percent from 2017.

The private Chinese carmakerí»s deliveries surged 63 percent to 1,247,116 last year on demand for four new models it introduced in 2016 -- the Boyue, Emgrand GS and Vision crossovers and the Emgrand GL compact sedan.

In early December, Geely launched sales of the first model, the 01 compact crossover, under its newly created premium brand Lynk & CO. During the month, 6,012 Lynk & CO 01s were delivered in China.

Lynk & CO shares a compact vehicle platform with Volvo Car Corp. Geely plans to sell vehicles in Europe and United States under the new brand in 2019.

Geely is based in the east China city of Hangzhou. It is the Hong Kong-listed subsidiary of Zhejiang Geely Holding Group Co., which acquired Volvo Car Corp. from Ford Motor Co. in 2010.

Last month, Geely Holding agreed to purchase a 8.2 percent stake in AB Volvo from activist investor Cevian Capital AB, making it the Swedish truck makerí»s largest shareholder.
