Faurecia, local auto parts maker partner to supply GM Wuling
Automotive News China | 2017/12/5

French auto parts maker Faurecia established a joint venture with Wuling Industry Co. to supply interior components to SAIC-GM-Wuling Automobile Co. and other customers.

The joint venture will produce instrument panels, center consoles, door panels and acoustic parts for Baojun passenger vehicles and Wuling microvans.

The partnership will be headquartered in the southwest China city of Liuzhou, where Wuling¡¯s operates assembly plants. Annual sales of the joint venture¡¯s three factories are expected to total 1.3 billion yuan ($197 million) by 2022.

Wuling Industry, a company controlled by the Liuzhou city government, makes chassis and interiors for automobiles. In July, Faurecia and Wuling formed a joint venture in Liuzhou to produce seats for SAIC-GM-Wuling.

SAIC-GM-Wuling was incorporated in Liuzhou in 2002 as a three-way partnership of SAIC Motor Corp., General Motors and Wuling Industry Co.

While the joint venture¡¯s microvan sales have been weak, the entry-level Baojun brand has grown rapidly.

Faurecia has 49 plants in China that produce seats, interior trim and emissions control components.
