Infiniti to build new crossover in China next year
Reuters | 2017/12/1

BEIJING -- Nissan Motor Co.'s premium Infiniti brand will start producing a new crossover in China next year, using an existing assembly plant in the northeastern city of Dalian.
The company did not provide details about the crossover, which will be the third Infiniti model produced in China.

But it did say that the new crossover would be built on the same assembly line as the Nissan X-Trail and Qashqai.

The plan to manufacture the vehicle in Dalian reinforces Infiniti¡¯s ¡°commitment to this important market,¡± Infiniti China chief Lu Yi said in a statement obtained by Reuters.

The automaker is expected to announce the move Friday at a press briefing at the Guangzhou auto show.

In 2014, Infiniti began producing the Q50 sedan and a long-wheel-base version of the same model in Nissan¡¯s Xiangyang assembly plant.
In the first ten months, Infiniti¡¯s China sales totaled 37,977 vehicles, up 15 percent from a year ago.
