PSA's engine plant in Wuhan
PSA boosts Chinese engine shipments to Europe
Automotive News Europe | 2017/12/1

PARIS ---- PSA Group is increasing shipments of Chinese-made gasoline engines to Europe as it adapts to a consumer shift away from diesels, Les Echos reported on Monday.

The French carmaker expects to import 100,000 gasoline engines from Chinese plants, up from the 55,000 engines it had previously planned to import in 2017 and 2018, the French financial daily said.

A PSA spokesman declined to comment.

Paris-based PSA disclosed the import plans earlier this year to accommodate the shift in demand while it converts some French engine production capacity from diesel to gasoline.

The engine shipments would allow PSA to make better use of its Chinese factories, which are operating below capacity due to weak sales at the company¡¯s joint venture, Dongfeng Peugeot Citroen Automobile Co.

In the first ten months of 2017, the partnership¡¯s deliveries in China plunged 40 percent to 276,300 vehicles.
