Volvo posts big sales gain in September
Automotive News China | 2017/10/6

GOTHENBURG, Sweden -- Volvo Car Group's China deliveries jumped nearly 30 percent year on year to 11,544 vehicles in September, fueled by strong sales of crossovers and sedans.

The Swedish automaker said it enjoyed strong demand for the XC60 crossover, S60L "stretch" sedan and S90 sedan. However, Volvo did not release model-by-model sales data.

For the first nine months, Volvos sales in China rose 30 percent to 82,341 units.

While Volvo expands in China, the company also is using China as an export hub. The company started shipping Chinese-built S60 sedans to the U.S. in 2015, and has began exporting the S90 flagship sedan to the U.S. and Europe this year.

Volvo was purchased by Zhejiang Geely Holding Group Co. from Ford Motor Co. in 2010.
