Mazda August deliveries climb on demand for Axela sedan
Automotive News China | 2017/9/19

Mazda Motor Corp.'s deliveries in China increased 8.4 percent year on year to 25,612 vehicles last month, thanks to the volume generated by the upgraded Mazda3 Axela compact sedan.

Although the Japanese automaker credited its sales increase to the Axela, which was introduced in February, it did not disclose results for individual models.

Through August, Mazdas China sales rose 13 percent from a year earlier to 184,184 vehicles.

Mazda hopes to maintain growth with two model upgrades. On Aug. 24, Mazda launched the redesigned CX-4 compact crossover in China, and an upgraded CX-5 is due this month.

Also this year, Mazda will start importing the CX-3 subcompact crossover and the MX-5 RF roadster.

Mazda is the fourth-largest Japanese brand in China by sales, after Honda, Nissan and Toyota.

In August, Hondas China deliveries jumped 21 percent to 128,671 vehicles, while Nissan sales rose 18 percent to 122,319. For the month, Toyota sales increased 13 percent to 108,500 vehicles.
