Nissan slips behind Honda despite August gain
Automotive News China | 2017/9/8

Nissan Motor Co.'s sales in China rose nearly 18 percent year on year to 122,319 vehicles in August, but the company fell to No. 2 in China among Japanese automakers.

For the same period, Honda Motor Co.s deliveries increased 21 percent to 128,671 vehicles. Toyota Motor Corp. was No. 3 with sales of 108,500 vehicles, up 13 percent.

For the first eight months, Nissan sales were up 9.0 percent to 877,638 vehicles.

To establish a niche in Chinas fast-growing electric vehicle market, Nissan and Renault S.A. have formed a joint venture, eGT New Energy Automotive Co., to develop an electric crossover with partner Dongfeng Motor Group.

In 2019, Nissan also plans to launch an electric car based on the Renault Kwid, with a price of $8,000 (52,200 yuan).
