Volvo's August deliveries jump on demand for locally built vehicles
Automotive News China | 2017/9/8

GOTHENBURG, Sweden -- Volvo Car Corp.'s deliveries in China jumped nearly 26 percent year on year to 9,616 vehicles in August as demand for locally built models remained strong.

The company said sales received a lift from the China-built XC60 crossover, S60L stretched sedan and S90 sedan.

For the first eight months, sales rose almost 30 percent to 70,797 vehicles.

Volvo has prospered in China since its acquisition in 2010 by Zhejiang Geely Holding Group. Geely bankrolled Volvo¡¯s development of new platforms and the companies have shared r&d.

Volvo has formed two joint ventures with Geely to share technology and develop Geely¡¯s new premium brand, Lynk & CO.

Volvo also has made China an export hub. The company exports the long-wheelbase S60 to the United States and this year it has started shipping the S90 to Europe and the United States.
