Nissan to feature Navara midsize pickup, VMotion 2.0 concept sedan
Automotive News China | 2017/3/31

Nissan Motor Co. says it will showcase its NP300 Navara midsize pickup, VMotion 2.0 sedan concept and an as-yet unidentified model next month at the Shanghai auto show.

The Navara is a global vehicle that Nissan has shared with other automakers. Renault has previewed the Navara-based Alaskan concept, and Mercedes-Benz plans to introduce a luxury version of the pickup in 2018.

The current Navara debuted at the 2015 Frankfurt auto show.

In a written statement, Nissan described it as an SUV-based truck that can be driven off-road. It did not offer details about its powertrain.

The Navara suggests that Nissan may be testing possible demand in China for pickups as personal-use vehicles. Many Chinese municipalities restrict the use of pickups. But the central government has encouraged cities to loosen those restrictions.

The VMotion 2.0 debuted in January at the Detroit auto show. Nissan has been coy about its plans for the vehicle, describing it only as a concept that offers hints of future models.

Analysts have speculated that it could be a design study for the next-generation Altima midsize sedan.
