Jaguar Land Rover's Latin American chief to run China sales unit
Automotive News China | 2017/1/20

Jaguar Land Rover has assigned Frank Wittemann, chief of its operations in Latin America, to lead its sales operation in China, effective Feb. 1.

Wittemann will become president of the automaker's integrated marketing, sales and service for China, a role that oversees sales of imported vehicles as well as vehicles produced in China.

JLR and state-owned Chinese carmaker Chery Automobile Co. have a 50-50 joint venture, Chery Jaguar Land Rover Automotive Co.

Wittemann, an auto veteran, has worked for JLR since 2011. His most recent role was managing director of Jaguar Land Rover Latin America and Caribbean.

JLR's current China sales chief, Mark Bishop, will retire at the end of January.

In 2016, JLR's sales in China jumped 31 percent year on year to 119,048 vehicles.

Of that total, three locally built models accounted for 54 percent of sales: the Jaguar XFL long-wheelbase midsize sedan, Range Rover Evoque compact crossover and Land Rover Discovery Sport compact SUV.
