Jaguar Land Rover sales surge; Infiniti struggles
Automotive News China | 2016/10/11

Jaguar Land Rover, the luxury car unit of India's Tata Motors, saw China deliveries surge 50 percent to 11,515 Jaguar and Land Rover vehicles last month.

September sales of the three models produced at its joint venture with Chery Automobile Co. -- the Range Rover Evoque, Discovery Sport and the long-wheelbase Jaguar XF -- totaled 5,716 vehicles.

The company did not disclose China sales for individual models.

In the first nine months, Jaguar Land Rover's deliveries totaled 82,641 vehicles, for a gain of 28 percent.

By contrast, Nissan Motor Co.'s Infiniti luxury brand lost market share in China last month.

In September, Infiniti's China deliveries edged up 1 percent from a year earlier to 3,700 vehicles. In the first nine months, the brand's sales rose 2 percent year on year to roughly 29,000 vehicles.

Infiniti builds its QX50 crossover and the stretched Q50 sedan at its partnership with Dongfeng Motor Co. in the central China city of Wuhan.

Sales of Infiniti's individual models were not available.
