Used-vehicle sales in China rose 5.8 percent year on year to 4.6 million in the first six months, reflecting a steadily expanding fleet of cars and trucks.
According to data published by the China Automobile Dealers Association, sales of used sedans increased 7.7 percent to 2.7 million vehicles, while used-SUV volume surged nearly 23 percent to 228,400.
By contrast, sales of secondhand buses dropped 5.2 percent to 604,900 vehicles, while used-truck sales dipped 0.5 percent to 538,500.
The association did not disclose sales of other types of used vehicles, such as multipurpose vehicles and microvans.
While used vehicle sales are on the rise, new-vehicle deliveries in China have run out of steam this year.
In the first seven months, demand for new vehicles -- including light vehicles, buses and commercial trucks -- edged up 0.4 percent from a year earlier to 13.4 million, according to the China Association of Automobile Manufacturers.
